ICAS Exams

Year 4,5 & 6 Students wishing to sit the ICAS exams need to have forms and payment to the school office by Friday 16th August. Please note there has been an increase in the cost of these exams due to them moving to an online format. Please see attached form

PTA

The next PTA meeting will be held in the staffroom on Monday 5th August at 7pm. Ag Day planning will be a key focus of the meeting. All welcome!

Lucky Book Club – Issue 5

Please get your orders into the school office by Monday 5 August at 3pm. Cheques to be made out to Scholastic New Zealand. Online orders have until Tuesday 6 August at 9am. All orders help to fund additional books for the school library.

Ag Day

Chickens have been ordered. They will be coming to school on Tuesday 13th August at 3pm. No chickens are to go home on the school bus. You will need to pick them up from school with a suitable container to transport them home safely.

If you are not doing a chicken, goat or lamb then you must choose 2 of the following – caged pet, mystery seed, scarecrow or lego. All the information needed for these activities are on the Dairy Flat website or in the Ag day folder in the office.

HBC football in school programme (Football FUNdamentals) starts next week.

Our sessions are full of FUN activities, games and football drills which will develop kids motor skills in a safe environment.

This programme is the perfect introduction to football and a way to learn and improve their football skills.

All our coaches working in this sessions are :

-) First aid qualify and have access to a first aid kit

-) All our coaches are Police Vetted

-) New Zealand Football coaching qualification

-) Child protection trained

-) Sign out procedure in place to guaranty kids are in a safe environment and are going home with their parent/caregiver.

Good luck to all our Winter Sports teams for the second half of your seasons.

Please remember at all times to:

1. Encourage your child to play within the rules and respect officials’ and coaches’ decision

2 Teach my child to respect the efforts of their opponents.

3. Remember that children learn best by example so I will applaud good plays/performances by both my child’s team and their opponents

4.Give positive comments that motivate and encourage continued effort support my child’s efforts and performance.

5. Thank the coaches, officials and other volunteers who give their time to conduct the event for my child

6. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender, ability or cultural background.

6.Commitment- having agreed for my child to be part of this team I will endeavor to ensure that my child attends as many practices and games as possible. We have committed to the team and will remain part of this team for the season.
